According to the Lung Institute, if you have diminished lung function like those with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), you may be at a high risk for memory loss.This memory loss is due to low blood oxygen levels which damage the brain.

COPD and memory loss - 4 things you can do

The good news is, there are many ways that you can work to improve brain function and combat memory loss.

Four ways to exercise your brain and your memory are:

1. Computer use 
2. Reading
3. Crafts
5. Playing games

This could include reading online articles such as this one, scrolling through Facebook, reading a magazine, knitting, painting, or card games. Using a computer is actually one the most effective ways to prevent memory loss. 

The ultimate goal is to keep your mind active, no matter the activity you choose. Chatting with friends and family, grocery shopping, and taking the dog for a walk can also be beneficial as long as the weather permits. If you are engaged, you are helping yourself to be better for longer.
